The CANOE is not only a means of transportation, but also has diverse cultural and historical meanings worldwide. In North America, it is a symbol of the relationship between humans and nature, exploration and the fur trade. Also, it symbolizes resistance and survival in rugged landscapes. It is reminiscent of the history and resilience of Indigenous Peoples and has played a central role in Canada.

A piece modeled after a North American canoe has an opening from which metaphorical water flows, representing the river of life and the transience. The “waterflow” is embedded in a rock on at the lakeshore that flows into the lake. Thus, the CANOE, nearly 4.5 m long, functions as a medium between land and water. This is why the interior of the CANOE is formed so ergonomically that 2 people can lie inside and embark on a journey into the unknown or the flow of their individual life path…
